Master's Degree in Research and Management Studies
Overview

This master’s program provides students with advanced training in management, with a focus on research and academic studies. The 100 hours of instruction must be supplemented by courses taken as part of a master’s program in Management Sciences at a university in Montpellier or by a validation of prior learning demonstrating equivalent management skills.

The Master's in Management Research and Studies enables students who wish to pursue a PhD the fundamental knowledge required for research in management sciences.
The main career paths include: researcher or faculty researcher in management sciences (after earning a PhD), management consultant and research manager, and professor.
Course Objectives and Career Opportunities
The master’s program aims to prepare students for a career in academia and research, either by joining consulting firms specializing in business and organizational management upon graduation, or by joining a university research team to pursue a PhD.
Upon completion of their PhD, students may apply for faculty positions at French (Section 06) or foreign universities, business schools, and public research institutions such as the CNRS.
The REM program also equips students with skills in research project design and management, enabling them to join research firms and management consulting firms in roles such as consultant, research analyst, or account manager.
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
- Students who have completed their first year of a master’s degree and are enrolled in a “professional” master’s program in the field of management sciences at a university in Montpellier.
- Students enrolled in PhD do not hold a Master’s degree in research.
- Professionals with proven experience in the field (VAE, VAP).
- Candidates are selected based on their application materials and an interview conducted by a panel of academics.
Courses
The Master 2 in Research and Management Studies includes 100 hours of required coursework covering the following topics:
- Epistemology and Research Design in Management: Epistemologyof Management Sciences, Methodology and Research Project Management,
- Research Methods in Management: Qualitative Approaches, Quantitative Approaches.
It also involves writing a research thesis under the supervision of a faculty researcher from the MRM laboratory.
