Robert Reix passed away in 2006, and the memory of this man—who played a leading role in the development of education and research in information systems in France—lives on:

  • In 2007, the book *Knowledge and Management*, a collection of 32 academic articles, was published by Economica in his honor;

  • Since 2008, the FNEGE-AIM – ROBERT REIX Dissertation Prize has been awarded annually to the best dissertation in Information Systems;

  • In 2011, the sixth edition of his seminal work, *Information Systems and Organizational Management*, was updated by his colleagues and published under his name by Vuibert;

  • In 2016, the seventh edition of his book was updated once again and published under his name by Vuibert; this textbook will soon reach 20,000 copies sold and will therefore remain the French standard in the field.

Robert Reix (1934–2006), a professor of management sciences and holder of a Doctorat d’État, was a professor emeritus at the University of Montpellier. He founded the IAE in Montpellier, which he led for about ten years, as well as the CREGO research team, which went on to gain national recognition; Robert Reix trained many students there who, in turn, contributed to the development of the discipline. Robert Reix was one of the founding members of the scientific association AIM (Association Information et Management) and the journal SIM (Systèmes d’information et Management). He also held numerous leadership roles within the management sciences community, including chairing the agrégation examination board.

His influence on the field of information systems management is considerable.
